An international challenge: independently create a 24-page comic book in 24 continuous hours. No preparation (sketches, designs, plot summaries, etc.) can precede the 24 hour period. Learn more about my 2008 participation from My Detailed Blog.
24 Hour Comics Day is an annual challenge for cartoonists to produce a 24-page comic book (normally a month's amount of work) in 24 consecutive hours. That's story, finished art, lettering, colors ... everything! Now an annual tradtion, the dare was invented by Scott McCloud in 1990. Participating artists include Dave Sim, Neil Gaiman, Kevin Eastman and many others. Creators of all ages and levels of skill and experience gather at one of the participating sites to encourage each other in completing this creative marathon. Lean more

A truly neighborhod comics shop, located in Union Square. Friendly help, late hours, supports local and independent work, lots of stuff but not cramped and great with kids. What's not to love?
